Fleataxi's wife just called to let me know that FT has pneumonia. she said he's been showing flu like symptoms since wednesday and also has had a sore on his leg that hasn't healed and is now turning black and smells bad. the Dr says he has multiple infections and they are flying him to the hospital in Reno (300 miles from here). she's frantic. she is also worried as they only have medicare and this will hurt them financially.
please everyone, if you would, pray for them both. God knows the needs better than any of us so please just ask Him to take care of them.

update: they can't get him on the plane for some reason so for now he's still here in elko...

update: they finally got an ambulance to send him to reno instead of the plane (for physical reasons). the latest word is his leg is septic and may have to be removed. the concern is that he won't survive the operation. he's apparently in bad shape folks...the nurses say he needs a miracle...

thanks John, i'll let you know.
FT's wife called me today...he made it to the hospital in reno without incident. she says he sounded really bad last night after the trip but was feeling a bit better this morning. she also said we won't know anything until this afternoon at the soonest.

not much to update. he's been on a respirator for more than a week and now they're thinking about doing a tracheotomy. his leg is better but his pneumonia is still going strong. they're trying different antibiotics but haven't found one that works yet.
i'll post when we know something more.

the latest info i have is FT got a trachiotomy on last wednesday to replace the intubation tube as it had been in too long. his pneumonia is under control now but his fever didn't come down until an undetected abscess in his abdomen broke open and began to drain. now he seems to be doing better. no word on when he'll be released from the hospital but it sounds like he's out of the woods for the most part and getting better.

the trach tube is out, they've got the infections under control and we're hoping he comes home within a week. he's still weak and the abcesses are still draining but the really great news is, he's lost a great deal of extra weight...enough that we may be able to get him into shape soon.

the last i've heard is he's in a nursing home in reno and has an MRSA infection. i'm going to try and talk to him this weekend.
